My doctoral research focused on the design and development of cooperative business networks — ecosystems of mutually contracting independent entrepreneurs, rather than traditional employer–employee hierarchies.
Today, with recent advances in AI, the coordination of these complex, interdependent relationships can finally be automated. What once required managerial overhead and organizational bureaucracy can now be orchestrated with precision. This makes network-based, collaborative business structures not only possible, but practical — and scalable.
I believe AI is democratizing the creation of exquisite, high-end products and services by absorbing the resource-intensive mechanical work and freeing human talent for imagination and mastery. Consider, for instance, a wall-mounted mechanical energy generator — a kinetic sculpture of brass gears, beautifully engineered, hand-wound, powering USB sockets. Power your devices with your own energy. It may never be mass-produced, but it can exist as a limited, artisanal batch created by a constellation of independent masters, supported by AI tools for calculations, simulations, and precision design.
